This has been a different kind of summer at Black Barn Apiary.
Wet, then hot, then drought. Yet there is still abundant forage in the prairie, and the bees are actively bringing in goldenrod and aster nectar. Traditionally, we feed this late-season honey back to the bees. While preparing the hives for winter, which is a big job, we’re preparing for the major gift-giving season. We’ve launched our 2026 /27 Look Book to inspire gifting ideas and are reaching out to clients now to confirm their honey choices for the holidays. Starting early ensures availability and allows us to craft the right blends and batch sizes.
Small-Batch Honey, Sustainably Sourced
Our honeys are produced in small three to four gallon batches, which allows for the optimum quality control our artisanal process demands.
