This is the type of bee we have at Black Barn Apiary. We have found she is a great bee for our Midwestern climate of cold winters and short, hot summers having a rapid Spring buildup and wonderful honey production.

Carniolans can forage on a larger variety of flowers as they have longest tongue of their species. Object oriented and providing the hives with multi- colored “addresses” helps them find their way home. They also have a lower “robbing”  tendency, making them well suited for the A-Z style of beekeeping.
