At the beginning of the 20th century, this style of beekeeping was developed by Anton Znidersic, where only the front of the hives are exposed to the elements and all the beekeeper’s work is done inside the structure.

Beekeeping in Slovenia has a rich and long history. Here at Black Barn Apiary we have created an A-Z Hive House for our Carniolan bees.

Because there are size limitations on the levels of frames, the beekeeper has a more intimate relationship with each hive. Our hive house creates a drier, thicker honey, so delicious, as is the aroma permeating the interior of the room.
